I am an Artist/Illustrator who specialises in figurative illustrations and fashion. My work can be described as imaginative, colourful and delicate. In some of my paintings, I combine layers of transparent colours that create a rich and vibrant style. I am inspired by patterns, elegant fashion and fairytales.
The media I use in my work ranges from watercolour, pastels, fabrics to screenprinting with added layers of acrylic paint, to combining paper, paint and stitch. I studied Fashion Illustration at Columbus College of Art and Design in the U.S. where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1988. Having worked in the Fashion and Advertising Industry as an art director for many years, I began to work with textiles, designing and making handbags. Since I moved to England in 2003, I have explored working with textiles and creating surface pattern designs. I enjoy using my pattern designs in my fashion illustrations and some of my children's characters. I have developed a personal style of illustration that reflects an ethereal innocence in my work and a strong sensitivity to the use of colour.
My work has also been influenced by the time I spent studying Textiles at Central Saint Martins and London City Lit College where I attended a number of short courses focusing on Textiles and Mixed Media. I am also an educator and currently teach Drawing and Painting in Adult Education and also have run several art workshops to date.
